Safety Week started off with our Annual visit from the Brentwood Police Department! The officers spoke with all of our friends about the importance of staying safe and some things we can do to avoid injuries or bad situations. A big thank you to the officers for spending some of their valuable time with us!

Brentwood Fire Department visits

Our Preschoolers had a great time and learned a lot today when tour local officers paid us a visit! We learned how to "Stop, Drop and Roll" and got to sit in the drivers seat of the Fire Engine! A huge thanks to B.F.D for coming out!

Milk + Bookies Event

A.O.M.F. teamed up with Milk and Bookies to promote literacy and service learning. We raised 36 books for children less fortunate. Our event was fun for all with a special story time and most importantly, MILK AND COOKIES!

August 29th will be a special day at The Academy because we are hosting our first ever Milk and Bookies event! During "Young Authors" week we will be hosting our annual Book Fair featuring a charity event for Milk and Bookies.

M+B is a nationwide charitable organization that inspires children to give back, using books as it's currency. Please join us for a day of story telling, snacks and most of all books!!

Kindergarten Boot Camp

Our first day of Boot Camp was Tuesday and our Cadets had a blast and learned a ton! We made Kindergarten Survival kits and I.D. necklaces and practiced our writing skills. Our Cadets will be more than ready come Fall!

Summer Preview

We started Summer right by having a luau! This was such a fun event complete with a lei making station, ALOHA volleyball, Bamboo Stick limbo and pineapple treats!

A big congratulations to Jamie Tassa and family for being the winner of the secound Annual Fitness Fanatics competition. They logged 37 fitness hours during the competition! There were several other families who came close. Overall, we logged over 280 fitness hours! I am so impressed and look forward to next years competition.

Our High Reach theme of the month is "Terrific Tools" and to add more hands on learning to the topic we asked our maintenance man "Mr. Donnie" and his assistant Chris to bring in his toolbox for us to explore. We saw all kinds of tools including drills, tape measures and levels!

For the past two weeks we have travelled in time back to when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth! We learned about Ancient Egypt, made ice cream floats and took Old Fashioned Photos! The Preschool Apprentice

Our first ever Apprentice competition was a huge success! The classes had to create a business plan that tied into our Wee Chefs theme. They were responsible for creating, producing and marketing their idea. All of the classes worked hard and showed great ingenuity. The competition was fierce but there can only be one winner....

And the winner is......... PreK for La Rose Rouge! PreK opened for business to sell homemade crepes with fresh fruit. The students got to work at the Creperie as chefs, servers and cashiers! Thank you to all of the parents who dined at the restaurant with us!

The Week of The Young Child

The Week of The Young Child is an important week for Preschools nationwide and we wanted to honor our children in big way. The week started out with Vision Screenings by the Tennessee Lions Club. On Wednesday we had a picnic lunch outside with friends and family. The week came to a close with our annual balloon release. We look forward to tracking how far our balloons have travelled.

Visit to Southerland Place

Last week we ventured to Southerland Place nursing home to celebrate Young Authors Week with our friends there. We had a great time reading stories and singing to the residents. The Program Coordinator even prepared a special snack for us!

I was extremely proud of how kind our PreK class was to the residents. They were friendly and well-mannered during the visit. We were invited back anytime and plan to take advantage of the hospitality that was extended to us.

Our first ever Academy Cookout was a great success! Special thanks to Ms. Robin and her husband for taking charge of the grill and to Ms. Candace for all of her help. It was great to have so many Academy families here to celebrate the summer. I know next year we will have an even bigger turn out!
